Road rehabilitation is now underway on Lake Ridge Road (Regional Road 23), as the Regional Municipality of Durham moves forward with infrastructure upgrades between Rossland Road (Regional Road 28) and Taunton Road (Regional Road 4), impacting both Ajax and Whitby.
According to the region, the project includes pulverizing the existing asphalt, adding granular A material, ditching, laying new asphalt with paved shoulders, and applying fresh pavement markings.
Work began on May 26 and is scheduled to continue until July 14, although the timeline may shift depending on weather conditions. The region’s contractor, Brennan Paving, is managing the project.
Daily lane restrictions will be in place throughout the construction period to ensure the work can be completed safely and efficiently. Drivers should expect delays and are encouraged to plan alternate routes when possible.
Nearby residents may experience noticeable noise and vibration due to the construction equipment used in the process. The region acknowledges the disruption and assures that efforts are being made to complete the project as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Motorists are reminded to exercise caution, especially around pedestrians, cyclists, and construction workers, while traveling through the work zone.
