Two males have been arrested for the murder of Amaar Jawaid. A third male is still wanted on a Canada-wide warrant, said Durham Police.

On March 6 at around 9:50 am, members of Central East Division responded to an address on Court Street after receiving a call to assist the Oshawa Fire Department. Oshawa Fire was on scene for a house fire and were able to extinguish the blaze. One person was located in the home deceased. His death was ruled a homicide.

On Thursday, October 12, members of the Durham Regional Police Homicide Unit with the assistance of the Gun and Gang Enforcement Unit and Peel Tactical Support Unit executed two warrants in Brampton and Oshawa. Two males were taken into custody without incident. A third male is still outstanding and wanted on a Canada-wide warrant, said a police statement.

The third suspect is currently on charges for a violent sexual assault and is required to wear an ankle monitoring bracelet. Investigators have evidence to support that he has removed his monitoring bracelet and are appealing to the public for assistance in locating him.

He is known to frequent the Tweed and Belleville areas. He has ties to the Oshawa area as well as the east coast provinces.

Investigators are urging the absconding suspect to contact counsel and turn himself into police. Anyone who is found to be assisting him to evade police is guilty of an offence under the Criminal Code of Canada and will be prosecuted to the full extent, police said.

Anyone with new information is asked to contact A/Det. Hilliard of the Major Crimes Homicide Unit at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 5413.
