Oshawa fire-murder suspect dumps monitoring bracelet

A Canada-wide warrant has been issued for a 37-year-old male who is wanted for the murder of Amaar Jawaid.

On Monday, March 6 at about 9:50 am, members of Central East Division responded to an address on Court Street after receiving a call to assist the Oshawa Fire Department.

Oshawa Fire was on scene for a house fire and were able to extinguish the blaze. One person was located in the home deceased. His death was ruled a homicide.

The suspect has been identified and is wanted for Second-Degree Murder. Name, photo and further details available at www.drps.ca.

He is currently on charges for a violent sexual assault and is required to wear an ankle monitoring bracelet. Investigators have evidence to support that the suspect has removed his monitoring bracelet and are appealing to the public for assistance in locating him.

The suspect is known to frequent the Tweed and Belleville areas. He has ties to the Oshawa area as well as the east coast provinces, said a police statement.

Investigators are urging the suspect to contact counsel and turn himself into police. Anyone who is found to be assisting him to evade police is guilty of an offence under the Criminal Code of Canada and will be prosecuted to the full extent, police said.
