Fleeing suspects hit cruiser as nearby school put in H&S

Durham District School Board (DDSB) yesterday announced that one of its schools in Oshawa was put in Hold-and-Secure (H&S) following police action in the area.

“Dr. C.F. Cannon Public School is currently in a Hold and Secure,” said a DDSB alert. The school is located at 1196 Cedar Street.

Earlier, Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) announced a large police presence in the area of Cedar Street and Phillip Murray Avenue in Oshawa.

“During a brief pursuit of theft suspects, the fleeing vehicle struck a cruiser and the suspects fled on foot. Police are in the area looking for the suspects. Please avoid the area,” said a police alert.

Later, DRPS said police had two parties in custody. No suspects are outstanding. Police will be clearly the area shortly.
