Upload your best holiday display photo for a chance to win!

The City of Oshawa is calling on community members to uplift spirits this holiday season by participating in the Outdoor Holiday Display Contest and by donating to the Feed the Need Durham holiday drive.

Community members are encouraged to enter the Outdoor Holiday Display Contest by submitting a photo at www.oshawa.ca/holidayspirit. Houses aglow with enchanting light displays, households showcasing charming decorations and animated storefront windows – all outdoor displays that can be seen by those passing by are eligible. The contest runs November 29 to December 31. Three winners will be chosen at random to receive gift bags valued at over $100 each. The Outdoor Holiday Display Contest is back for another year sponsored by TD Canada.

Participate in a holiday food drive and give where you can. Feed the Need Durham is open to receive donations of non-perishable food or personal care items between the hours of 8:30 am and 4:30 pm Mondays through Thursday at 371A Marwood Drive in Oshawa. For more information about how you can help, visit the Feed the Need Durham website.

“Our City is excited to host the Outdoor Holiday Display Contest for another successful season! As we decorate our homes for the holidays, let’s also celebrate the spirit of Oshawa by supporting each other and donating to Feed the Need in Durham,” said Oshawa Mayor Dan Carter. “A simple act of kindness can make all the difference to our most vulnerable community members.”

“Covid has driven up food prices by 30 to 40%. This is challenging for everyone but especially those of our fellow citizens on a very limited budget,” said Councillor Rick Kerr, Chair of the Community Services Committee. ”If you are in a more comfortable life situation this holiday season, please consider donating food supplies to those in need.”

“This holiday season as we return to some of our much-loved traditions, let’s not forget those who may be struggling in our community,” said Councillor Derek Giberson, Vice-Chair of the Community Services Committee. “Help brighten our city by decorating your home and giving to Feed the Need in Durham.”
