Oak Valley Health’s Uxbridge Hospital is in Stage 2 of the capital planning for the major redevelopment of its Uxbridge site, according to Peter Bethlenfalvy, Minister of Finance and MPP for Pickering-Uxbridge.
The project will replace aging infrastructure with a new, modern hospital facility and increase capacity to meet growing demands and ensure that patients and families in growing communities like Uxbridge receive high-quality care.
As part of the Stage 2, capital-planning process Oak Valley Health has submitted a functional program, which provides details of the programs and services that will be offered at the redeveloped hospital. They are working with the ministry to finalize the functional program and have it quickly approved so they can move to the next stage of redevelopment process, said a township statement.
Investing in hospital infrastructure projects in communities across the province is a key part of the government’s comprehensive plan to end hallway health care. In 2019, the Ontario government announced an investment of up to $500,000 to support the planning and design of the Uxbridge Hospital redevelopment project.
“Our government made a commitment to end hallway health care for Ontarians, and we continue deliver on that promise by supporting projects like the Uxbridge Hospital redevelopment,” said Christine Elliott, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health. “Patients and families in Uxbridge and the surrounding communities can look forward to a modern hospital that will provide high-quality care for generations to come.”

This project is part of the government’s commitment to invest $22 billion in health care infrastructure projects across Ontario over the next 10 years that will lead to over $30 billion in hospital infrastructure and expanded capacity to support high-quality patient care.
