Uxbridge woman dies from car crash injuries

The 25-year-old Uxbridge woman, who was seriously hurt in a car crash, has succumbed to her injuries over the weekend.

This is the eighth traffic fatality in Durham Region, said a police statement.

Investigators will not be releasing the name of the deceased as per the wishes of her family, it added.

The woman was seriously injured in a motor vehicle collision in Uxbridge on August 7 morning. the accident took place at 5:36 am on Sandford Road near Uxbridge Concession Road #2 in Uxbridge Township.

Witnesses report the involved vehicle, which was a white Chevrolet Malibu, was eastbound on Sandford Road prior to the collision. The driver of the Malibu lost control of the vehicle and it left the roadway and rolled-over before coming to rest on the passenger side.

Air Ambulance

The 25-year-old female driver of the Malibu was found inside the car with serious injuries. She was rushed by ambulance to a local hospital before she was transferred by air ambulance to a Toronto-area trauma center where she remains in critical condition.

The road was closed for several hours while members from the Collision Investigation Unit examined the scene and collected evidence relating to the collision.
