Gunpoint robbery in Pickering Town Centre parking

Durham Police are looking for two suspects after two victims were robbed of gaming systems that they were selling online in Pickering.

On Thursday, January 6 at approximately 7:45 pm, the victim attended West Division to report a gunpoint robbery that occurred in the parking lot of the Pickering Town Centre on Kingston Road. The two victims had arranged to meet the suspect through a social media app to sell him four PlayStation 5 game consoles. During the transaction, the suspect who was a passenger of a grey Nissan Altima, brandished a handgun and threatened the victims before driving off westbound with the merchandise, said a police statement.

Police checked the area with negative results.

One suspect was described as male Black, 6’4″ 20 to 30 years of age. He was wearing a black bubble jacket, grey pants and a cloth mask. There was no suspect descriptor for the driver of the suspect vehicle which was described as a grey Nissan Altima.

Police are reminding residents to take precautions when selling items on any online platform. It’s best to meet during the day in a public place away from your residence, and bring along someone with you. Don’t accept partial payment or anything other than cash and don’t hand over the item until you have the cash from the buyer.
