Violent assault victim found unconscious on pavement

Durham Police yesterday said a male is in serious but non-life-threatening condition after being violently assaulted in Oshawa.

On Sunday, March 3 at about 8:40 am, members of Central East Division responded to an assault call in the area of Simcoe Street South and Hemlock Avenue.

A male was located unconscious on the sidewalk with signs of physical trauma. He was transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre where he remains in serious but non-life-threatening condition, said a police statement.

Man assaults two fishing in Pickering

A male is in custody after he assaulted two males who were fishing in Pickering.

In the early hours of Sunday, March 3, the victims were assaulted while fishing in the Duffin’s Creek area near Church Street South and the 401 Highway.

A male residing in a tent nearby approached the victims while brandishing a knife and making threats. The suspect pushed one of the males into the creek. The victims did not sustain any physical injuries and attended West Division to report the incident to police.

The suspect, age 26 from Ajax was charged and held for a bail hearing. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.
