Durham Police said a 46-year-old male is facing numerous charges after an intimate partner violence investigation in Scugog.
On May 30, members from North Division began an investigation into a series of violent incidents involving two parties involved in an intimate relationship.
During the investigation, it was learned that the male violently assaulted the female causing injuries to her face and neck, at which time the Intimate Partner Violence Unit took over the investigation, said a police report.
With the assistance of the North Division Criminal Investigations Bureau, the Offender Management Unit, the accused was located at a hotel on Thursday, June 5. The accused fled from officers on foot but was taken into custody after a brief search of the area with the assistance of the K9 unit.
A 46-year-old male from Scugog has been charged with Assault (Spousal) x2, Uttering Threats/Death or Bodily Harm, Harassment by Means of Repeated Telecommunications, Chokes, Suffocates or Strangles and Publish Intimate Image Without Consent.
He was held for a bail hearing.
The name of the accused is being withheld to protect the identity of the victim.
