An attempt at opening a bank account at CIBC using fraudulent ID led to the arrest of a wanted man in Whitby.
At the time of his arrest, the accused was wanted by several other police services for similar offences.
On Thursday, June 4, at about 4 pm, members of Central West Division responded to a fraud call at the CIBC located at 308 Taunton Road East.
Bank staff contacted police after a male attended their location and attempted to open an account using fraudulent identification documents. Officers arrived on scene and took the suspect into custody without incident.
A search of the suspect produced multiple banking cards not in his name.
The accused was also already bound by conditions not to possess any banking documents or cards unless in his name.
The 27 year old repeat offender from Toronto was held for a bail hearing. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.
