Watch Air1 help Toronto police in nabbing shooting suspects

The DRPS Air1 helicopter assisted Toronto Police Service in the arrest of two suspects in a shooting investigation.

On Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at around 4 pm, officers from Central West Division responded to the area of Thickson Road North and Taunton Road East after receiving information from Toronto Police Service (TPS) that two suspects involved in a shooting in Toronto earlier that afternoon were in the area.

Air1 conducted an aerial search of the area and located the suspect vehicle in a driveway of a residence in Whitby. Shortly after, the vehicle left the residence and Air1 followed the vehicle into Oshawa, providing updates to TPS and DRPS officers on the ground. At one point, the suspect got into another vehicle, which Air1 began to follow.

At approximately 5:15 p.m., units were able to box in the vehicle the suspects fled on foot. Air1 followed one suspect, and he was taken into custody. At approximately 6 pm. Air1 located the second suspect in a nearby playground and he was taken into custody.

Officers also located a firearm and a quantity of drugs.

One male from Oshawa and one male from Toronto are facing multiple charges and were held for bail hearings.
