Winchester Road makeover to last till July

The Regional Municipality of Durham has announced upcoming lane restrictions on Winchester Road in the Town of Whitby.

These will begin tomorrow (March 4) and last until July. Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule, said a municipal statement.

The impacted area is from Winchester Road, between Durham Street and Watford Street/Anderson Street, in Whitby.

Lane restrictions are required to safely construct temporary traffic signals and roadway illumination in preparation for the reconstruction of Winchester Road, the region said.

The Region realizes that the work may be disruptive and will make every effort to complete the work as quickly and efficiently as possible. Drivers are asked to exercise caution for the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and work crews.
