Woman driver outsmarts gun-bearing carjacker

A male suspect is wanted after an attempted carjacking in Ajax last Sunday evening.

On December 5 at about 7 pm, members from West Division were called to the area of Harwood Avenue South and Bayly Street East for an attempted robbery. The victim was getting into her Honda Accord when she was confronted by the armed suspect. The suspect, who was armed with a handgun, demanded the woman driver get out of her vehicle. The victim was able to lock her vehicle and refused to get out. The suspect fled on foot towards Bayly Street, said a police statement.

Police searched the area with negative results. The victim didn’t sustain any physical injuries.

The suspect is described as male, Black, in his 20’s, medium build. He was wearing a black jacket with a grey hooded sweater and was armed with a handgun.

  1. A TTC trainer once told me “if they threaten you with the gun, they won’t use it. If they plan on shooting you, you won’t get a warning.”
