Woman held for arson after setting alight a home and truck

Durham Police yesterday said a female has been arrested after a truck and house were lit on fire in Oshawa.

On Thursday, July 4 at about 2 am, members of Central East Division responded to an armed person call in the area of Park Road South and Quebec Street.

A female sprayed flammable fluids on a vehicle and residence before igniting both and causing significant damage. The fire department attended the scene and successfully extinguished the fires. The suspect was located a short distance away and taken into custody without incident, police said.

No parties sustained any physical injuries. This was an isolated incident and there are no concerns for public safety, they added.

The woman, age 52 from Oshawawas charged and held for a bail hearing. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.
