Work starts on 212 townhouses in Oshawa

Marlin Spring’s groundbreaking ceremony for the new Symphony Towns development in Oshawa was yesterday attended by Regional Councillor Tito-Dante Marimpietri, Chair of the Development Services Committee. Mayor Dan Carter was unavailable on city business.

The Symphony Towns development will bring 212 new townhouse units to the corner of Harmony Road South and Taylor Avenue in Oshawa and is located on the former Donevan High School site at 250 Harmony Road South. The development will feature a new 0.56 hectare (1.38 acre) public park, said a city statement.

In May 2020, city council approved naming of the new park as ‘Dale Hawerchuk Park’ in honour of the late hockey legend, Oshawa native and former Donevan High School student. The motion was introduced by Marimpietri during the May 25 council meeting, and was unanimously approved by council.

It is anticipated that the development will be open for occupancy in 2022 along with the new park. To learn more about Symphony Towns Oshawa, visit https://symphonytowns.com.

“This community will feature family-size townhouse homes that will be nestled in a thriving, mature existing neighbourhood within minutes from GO and VIA rail stations and from Highways 401, 407 and 412,” said Pedro Lopes, Senior Vice President of Developments at Marlin Spring.

“The City of Oshawa continues to attract new development and this is the type of investment that we love to see – one that further promotes the city’s balanced lifestyle and connected community,” said Mayor Dan Carter.
