The Municipality of Clarington yesterday announced that the long-awaited reconstruction of Port Darlington Boat Launch and parking lot will begin on July 3.
The project is expected to be completed by the end of September, it said.
Clarington had been considering a proposal to build a new boat launch at a new location (see below).
“Starting the week of July 3, 2023, crews will begin reconstructing the Port Darlington Boat Launch and parking lot,” said a municipal statement.
The work includes:
- Reconstruction of the boat launch ramp.
- Installation of a cantilever dock and concrete staircase.
- Erosion protection.
- Grading and paving the parking lot and drainage improvements.
- Line painting and landscaping.
The Bowmanville Leash-Free Dog Park will remain open throughout the construction, except for several days when the parking lot is paved. Once the paving date has been finalized, we will provide more information about the short-term closure of the dog park, the municipality said.
