York arrest in string of Durham Break-and-Enters

A 49-year-old suspect is facing numerous charges for breaking into commercial premises across Durham Region.

During the months of January and February, the suspect broke into 11 commercial premises, mainly restaurants in Ajax, Pickering and Whitby. The suspect would smash the front glass doors/windows of these premises, gain entry and steal cash and property, police said.

The suspect was arrested on February 9 by the York Regional Police for similar incidents in their region. Members of the West Division Property Crimes Unit charged the suspect for the incidents in Durham Region.

The suspect of No Fixed Address is charged with: Break and Enter – Commit Business x9; Break and Enter Commit with Intent Business x2; Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 x9 and Fail to Comply with Probation Order. More details at www.drps.ca.
