You can now visit Scugog Municipal Office in person

Effective Monday, October 18, the Township of Scugog Municipal Office, located at 181 Perry Street, will re-open to in-person services, with new procedures in place.

What can you except when visiting the Municipal Office?

  • Please screen yourself for Covid-19 symptoms before entering the municipal office
  • Masks must be worn, and physical distancing must be maintained
  • Please enter using our main doors, on the west side, facing Perry Street
  • Please exit through the rear door located on the east side of the building, facing the back parking lot
  • For individuals with accessibility needs, entrance and exit will be available through the main entrance. Please call 905-985-7346 upon arrival for assistance
  • Signage will be up, throughout the building providing information on procedures while in the Municipal Building
  • Public washrooms remain closed

Appointments are advised for the following services, to ensure appropriate staff are available:

  • Clerk services such as marriage licences
  • Finance services such as to review the roll book or speak with the tax collector
  • Development services such as planning review, building permit review
  • By-Law services to obtain parking passes, a by-law dispute or an early resolution

To make an appointment with staff for virtual or select services, please visit the staff directory at scugog.ca/contact. Please complete our COVID-19 screening form http://covidassessment.scugog.ca/ before coming to your appointment. Once complete, you will get a checkmark validating you are okay to attend the office in person. You will need to show this to staff upon arrival.

Walk-ins will be accepted for the following services:

  • Payments of taxes, parking tickets, application fees
  • Purchasing Durham Region Transit Presto passes, recycling and compost bins, and emergency numbers
  • Submission of a written correspondence, Freedom of Information requests, Commissions, or any documents that cannot be submitted digitally
  • Public Works permit applications such as road occupancy, culvert and special events

The document drop box will continue to be in place for those wishing to drop off documents or payments and limit in person contact. The drop boxes will be moved to the front lobby, which will be accessed through the Perry Street doors.

Durham Region Health Department water sample bottles and sewage disposal applications can be dropped off in the back hall. Please use the main entrance, follow the arrows through the lobby, to access the bottles and the drop off cooler. For questions regarding the water sample program, please call 905-985-4889 to connect with the Durham Region Health Department.

Scugog Community Recreation Centre, 1655 Reach Street

Last week, the province lifted capacity limits of spectators in facilities for sports and recreational fitness. Effective Friday, October 15, the Township of Scugog will be implementing the following changes at the Scugog Arena:

  • Scugog Arena spectator areas increase to 100 per cent capacity
  • No changes to the player/skater limits on ice
  • The arena main doors will be unlocked
  • Enter the main entrance to access Pad 1, Pad 2 and Recreation programs
  • Access to dressing rooms permitted only 30 minutes before and all players to exit 30 minutes after rental
    • Showers permitted
  • No lobby access – will be strictly enforced
  • All spectators and players/skaters to use the Township contact tracing and screening app
    • Masks must be worn
    • Use hand sanitizer
    • Maintain 2m / 6ft physical distance
  • Staff to check proof of vaccination, contact tracing and screening prior to entry to the facility
