Young woman struck down in Ajax hit-and-run

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) last evening reported a hit-and-run incident in which a young woman was struck down in Ajax.

She has been taken to a Toronto hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Police closed off Taunton Road East between Gillett Dr. and Warner Dr. for the investigation.

“This closure is for a fail-to-remain collision. Female possibly in her early 20s was struck and suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries. Female taken to Toronto area hospital,” said  police tweet.

“There is no suspect vehicle information at this time, but officers have found debris and car parts that will hopefully give investigators more information. More info to follow once we can confirm details,” it added.

The road was reopened around 10 pm last night.
