Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) has issued an alert to businesses and residents that there has been an increase in the number of break-and-enters at businesses where the suspects are specifically targeting the PIN pads.

When comparing 2022 to 2023 year-to-date, the DRPS yesterday said it has seen an 1,100 per cent increase in commercial break-and-enters where PIN pads are specifically targeted.

“If you’re a business owner, consider storing them in a secure area, separate from your cash,” said an ealier advisory.
