SWAT-like operation helps free two confined victims

Durham Police yesterday said a male and female have been arrested after forcibly confining and assaulting two victims over the weekend in Oshawa.

On Monday, April 24 at about 12:25 pm, members of Central East Division responded to a call from a victim who fled a residence after being assaulted. Police converged in the area of Albert Street and First Avenue, Oshawa where they set up containment on a residence, said a statement.

A second victim was successfully removed. Both victims had been at the residence since Friday, April 21. They had been unable to leave and had been assaulted by the suspects, police said.

It said with assistance from the Tactical Support Unit and K9, two suspects were taken into custody later that evening. Two additional suspects had fled the scene prior to police arrival.

An adult male and adult female suffered minor injuries.
