Meridian doubles reward for Credit Union robbers

Durham Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses to come forward in an armed robbery investigation in Pickering.

On December 8, at about 7 pm, members of West Division responded to an armed robbery at the Meridian Credit Union on Kingston Road.

Two male suspects, both armed with handguns entered the bank and made a demand for cash from the employees. The suspects then forced the employees into the vault and took a quantity of cash before fleeing the scene (see earlier story below).

Meridian Credit Union was previously offering a $15,000 reward; however, they are now offering a $30,000 reward to anyone who provides any information that leads to the arrest of the two males involved. Meridian advised this is a further step taken by them to help protect its employees and its members, said a police statement

Suspect #1: male, Black, approximately 6’ tall, slim build, wearing black track suit, black shoes, construction vest and balaclava.

Suspect #2: male, Black, approximately 5’8” tall, faded black jeans, red and white Jordan shoes, dark sweater, construction vest and ski mask.

Anyone with surveillance or dashcam video in the area at the time of the incident, or anyone with new information about this investigation is asked to contact the Major Crime Robbery Unit at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 5355.
