Driver in critical condition after head-on crash

Durham Police said a 25-year-old male is in critical condition after a two vehicle collision yesterday morning in Brock Township.

On Saturday, April 22 at about 11 am, members from North Division responded to a head-on collision between two vehicles on Lake Ridge Road near Highway 48 in Brock Township.

A black four-door Hyundai was travelling northbound on Lake Ridge Road when it crossed into the southbound lanes and struck a black Ford SUV. The driver of the Hyundai was taken to a Toronto-area hospital where he remains in critical condition, police said.

Two occupants from the SUV were treated at a local hospital for minor injuries and released. Investigators believe alcohol and/or drugs may have been a factor.

Members of the DRPS Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene and conducted an investigation. The roads in the area were closed for several hours while evidence was collected.

Anyone with information about this incident or who witnessed this collision is asked to call D/Cst. Kollaard at 905-579-1520 ext. 5267.
