Oshawa has announced a five-monhth long lane closure for Streetscape Redevelopment of King Street Phase 4.
The restriction is scheduled to begin this month and last until August.
It is to facilitate the widening of the sidewalk on King Street West from McMillan Drive to Centre Street, said a city notice.
It said the work involves the widening of the north sidewalk on King Street West from McMillan Drive to Centre Street. Work in this contract includes but is not limited to the new and widened concrete sidewalk, concrete curb and gutter, street lighting, traffic signals, street furniture, plantings, asphalt pavement and pavement markings.
The statement said the city’s contractor, NPM Construction, will commence work on or about April 24. The work is expected to be completed in August 2023. Unfavourable weather conditions and unforeseen circumstances may impact the work schedule.
King Street West within the construction limits will remain open to local and emergency traffic with lane closures to facilitate construction in a safe and efficient manner. Lane closures will be identified through temporary traffic controls including but not limited to pavement markings, traffic control devices and signage.
The city said two lanes of traffic will be maintained during construction.
There will be no parking on the south curb lane of King Street west from Centre Street to Prince Street for the duration of the construction.
