Another violent carjacking reported in Durham

Durham Police yesterday said they have arrested and charged a male after he assaulted a female and stole her vehicle in Whitby.

On Thursday April 20 at around 9:30 pm, members of Central West Division attended the area of Dundas Street East and Glen Hill Drive in Whitby after a male approached a female and attempted to remove her car keys from her pocket.

A struggle ensued however the male was able to enter her vehicle and flee. The female was still partially inside the vehicle as the male drove away. She suffered minor injuries during the attack. Officers were able to locate the male and recover the female’s vehicle, said a police statement.

The suspect of South Asian descent from Whitby is facing five charges and was held for a bail hearing. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.
