Police rule out safety threat after armed person report

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) said they saw no threat to public safety after investigating reports of an armed person in Oshawa.

“Police are in the area of First Avenue and Simcoe Street in Oshawa for reports of an armed person. Please avoid the area. Further information to follow, said a statement on Monday.

After investigating, police said: “At this time, this incident is isolated to a home in the area and there is no immediate danger to the public. Police remain on scene, please continue to avoid the area.

“Police remain on scene to continue an investigation following an armed person. All roads are re-opened and there is no threat to public safety at this time,” police added later.
