11th murder of 2022: Man stabbed outside Ajax bar

A 28-year-old male has died after being stabbed outside of an Ajax bar on Saturday, according to Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS).

On October 15 at about 2:00 am, two males were involved in an altercation out front of King’s Castle Bar and Grill located on Westney Road South. During the altercation, one of the males pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim. Immediately following the incident, a person was struck by a motor vehicle in the parking lot, said a police report.

The stabbing victim was taken to a Toronto-area trauma hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Police have identified a suspect and the investigation is continuing.

The driver of the vehicle who struck a person in the parking lot has been charged with Dangerous Operation Causing Bodily Harm. The person struck was transported to a Toronto-area trauma hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators are looking for anyone with information to come forward, as well as anyone that was at the bar or who may have video footage of the incident.

This is the 11th homicide of 2022 in Durham Region.
