14-year old arrested at school for armed robbery

Durham police yesterday said a high school male student has been arrested while at school for armed robbery in Pickering, His accomplices are still at large.

On January 29, around 6:25 pm, members of West Division responded to an armed robbery in the area of Westcreek Drive and Pine Grove Avenue.

The teen boy attended the area after making plans to purchase shoes from another teen boy. The victim was confronted by three men wearing masks, who brandished a firearm and demanded cash. The suspects fled the area prior to police arrival.

The victim did not suffer any physical injuries, police said.

On Tuesday, April 14, West Crime Team investigators, with the assistance of the Community Response Unit, attended a high school in Barrie and took one of the suspects into custody.

Two suspects remain outstanding.

A 14-year-old male from Barrie is charged and held for a bail hearing.
