15-year old found and held after injuring teen with an axe

A 15-year-old male has been arrested after assaulting another youth with an axe.

On Saturday, November 23, at about 7:55 pm, members of West Division responded to the area of Liverpool Road and Kingston Road, in Pickering, for a disturbance call involving multiple teenagers.

Officers arrived on scene and located a victim who sustained injuries after being struck by an axe. The large group of teenagers dispersed prior to police arrival and the suspect fled. The victim was transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre with serious injuries, police said.

On Monday, November 25, members of West Division Criminal Investigations Branch executed a search warrant at the house of the suspect. The suspect, a 15-year-old male, was arrested without incident, and clothing was seized.

The suspect from Pickering was charged and held for a bail hearing.
