18-year-old driver dies after crashing into a light pole

Durham Police said an 18-year-old male was reported to have died as the result of a single motor vehicle collision in Oshawa.

On Monday, February 3, at about 4:39 am, members from East Division were dispatched to a single motor vehicle collision on Grandview Street North and Rathburn Street. The motor vehicle was reported to have been travelling southbound when it exited the roadway, striking a light standard and sign. The single occupant, an 18-year-old male driver, was pronounced deceased on scene.

Members of the DRPS Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The area of the roadway was closed for several hours while evidence was collected. Police stated that this collision remained under investigation.
