$10 an hour parking for non-residents at Fields of Uxbridge

In the last council meeting Uxbridge has given the green light to charge out-of-towners $10 per hour for parking at the Fileds of Uxbridge.

A Fee By Law was amended to include permit parking at Fields of Uxbridge. A new parking rate of $10.00 per hour was added to By-law 2021-083, to be charged to out-of-town users only,” said a council statement.

It also made some other changes to parking in the township.

A Parking By Law was amended to introduce no parking zones and permit parking zones near and at the Fields of Uxbridge. Changes to By-law 2021-084 include no parking on one side of Lormik Drive and permit parking on the other, no parking on Colby Road., and permit parking at the lot in the Fields of Uxbridge, with a new parking rate of $10.00 per hour applicable to out-of-town users only.

Other highlights of the council meeting include:

  • Expansion Proposed for Butternut Manor: Architectural renderings for an expansion to Butternut Manor were shared at the meeting. The project was referred to staff and may start as early as Fall 2021.
  • Section of Quaker Trail to be paved this summer: Thanks to a Provincial Inclusive Community Grant, the Township will pave pathways through Quaker Common this summer. Additional trail improvements in this area will be recommended by staff as the budget permits.
  • Township Eyes a Grant to Improve Arena Energy Efficiency: Staff will apply for a grant to offset costs to retrofit lights, thermostats, exhaust fans and refrigeration units at the Arena. The proposed energy improvements are expected to result in significant energy cost savings each year.
  • Economic Development Reports on Business Visitation Program: The Uxbridge Economic Development Advisory Committee (EDAC) presented a report outlining findings of their  2019/2020 Business Visitation Program.
