25-year old female dies after horrific Ajax 401 crash

A woman died after a horrific crash on Highway 401 yesterday morning. The collision caused massive delays.

DRPS Traffic Services said Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Highway Safety Division were on scene of the collision on the highway near Lake Ridge Road.

It advised drivers to expect closures and delays, and to check with OPP GTA Traffic for updates.

“Remember, everyone is delayed. Don’t be selfish or drive aggressively on our roadways. No exceptions,” it said.

OPP Highway Safety Division said one person was transported to hospital with serious injuries.

All lanes were closed in both directions. Eastbound traffic was diverted to Salem Road, and westbound to Highway 412.

OPP later announced that a 25-year-old female had been pronounced deceased in hospital.

All westbound lanes were reopened by afternoon, while eastbound lanes remained closed for recovery.
