Woman who used washroom freed unconditionally for robbery

Durham Police yesterday said three males are in custody after stealing numerous items from a gas station and threatening an employee with a weapon in Whitby.

On Monday, October 23 at about 9:35 am, members of Central West Division responded to an armed person call at the Shell Gas Station, located at 403 Brock Street South in Whitby.

Three males and one female entered the gas station. The female attended the washroom as the males began gathering various items. The male suspects exited the gas station without paying for any items. The gas station employee confronted the suspects and was threatened with a weapon, said a police statement.

It said the female exited the gas station during this event and did not participate in any thefts or assaults.

The employee let the suspects leave and contacted police. All parties fled prior to police arrival, however, they were located a short distance away and taken into custody without incident.

No physical injuries were sustained by any parties.

One male suspect of Whitby, and two others of No Fixed Address were charged and released on an undertaking. Names and further details available at www.drps.ca.

A 34-year-old female of Oshawa was arrested and released unconditionally.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Det. McInall of the Central West Division Criminal Investigations Branch at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 1847.
