It seems yesterday was not a good day for Durham motorists who text surreptitiously – or even boldly – while driving.
Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) East Division officers stopped a driver for texting. It turned out the driver was already suspended x3.
That resulted in a 45-day impound.
“Don’t text while driving, and don’t drive while suspended!” police warned.
But soon, another driver was caught texting with both hands at a light.
The motorist had to lighten their wallet by $615 and also got three demerit points.
“If you need to check your messages and text while driving, pull off into a parking lot and do so safely,” police said.
But it still was not enough.
Another one [caught] texting while driving, said officers from the DRPS East Division.
They pointed out that distracted driving is one of the top-4 killers on the road.
“Don’t text and drive and don’t drive while holding a hand-held communications device,” they advised.
But then officers came across this dump truck (image below).
Driving a dump truck with a pup trailer on the back…..and texting. Not a good combination!
East Division officers also warned of insecure loads after charging this driver (image below) for ‘Insecure Load and No Clear View to the Rear, sec. 74(1)(b)’.
” You need to be able to see out all of your windows,” police said.
