49-year old dead after van smashes into concrete barrier

A 49-year-old man has died following a single-vehicle crash in Ajax, according to Durham Regional Police.

Police say the collision occurred around 9:50 pm on Monday, May 12. Officers from West Division responded to the scene on Kerrison Drive East, where a Toyota Sienna van had struck a concrete barrier wall on private property.

The impact caused significant damage to the front of the vehicle. The driver, who was the sole occupant, was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Durham police’s Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene, which was closed for several hours while evidence was gathered.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
