Durham police say a 68-year-old man is in hospital with life-threatening injuries following a single-vehicle rollover in Uxbridge on Friday afternoon.
Officers from DRPS were called to Uxbridge Concession 3, just north of the Uxbridge-Pickering Townline, at about 3:10 pm. A loaded Freightliner truck was heading southbound when it went into the soft shoulder. Police say the driver tried to steer back onto the roadway, but the weight of the load caused the truck to tip onto its side.
The driver was transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre.
The DRPS Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene and closed the roadway for several hours to collect evidence. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Constable Lee of the Collision Investigation Unit at 1-888-579-1520, ext. 5231.
