Teen G2 driver going 70kmh over along Taunton Road

It is assumed young aspiring drivers are impatient to get a licence and get going, but it’s a no, no when it comes to breaking the rules, says Durham Police.

A teen thought officers would be off the road at night, and took the car for a spin.

A 17-year old G2 driver was clocked going 120 in a 50kmh zone along Taunton Road at night, said a police tweet.

Traffic Safety Team reminded everyone that speed enforcement happens at all times of day.

This resulted in a 30-day impound of the car and 14-day driver licence suspension, according to Durham Regional Police – Central East Division.
