Community grants of up to $25,000 offered by Whitby

Whitby is inviting community and non-profit organizations that help the town, to apply to the Mayor’s Community Development Fund (MCDF).

According to the town, the application deadline for the Mayor and Council’s Golf Tournament and Mayor’s Gala Lead Grant (up to $25,000) is March 31. Community grants of up to $5,000 are available through the Mayor’s Community Development Fund and can be applied for throughout the year; they are awarded monthly. The Performing Arts Community Development Fund (PACDF) stream is now closed as the funds have been allocated.

Last year, the town provided over $235,000 to 57 community organizations.

The 2024 Lead Grant recipients include:

  • $15,000 to Alzheimer Society of Durham Region to support its social and recreation program for individuals living with dementia.
  • $20,000 to Durham Children’s Aid Foundation to help provide opportunities for youth at risk of, or previously entrenched in human trafficking.
  • $20,000 to Wounded Warriors Canada for trauma informed workplace training for Whitby’s First Responders.
  • $25,000 to Lakeridge Health Foundation to support the fundraising for Lakeridge Health’s new Hospital in Whitby.
  • $20,000 to Whitby Professional Firefighters Association towards the Whitby fallen firefighter memorial.
