Ajax crash leaves 61-year old woman critically hurt

Durham police are investigating a serious two-vehicle collision in Ajax that left a 61-year old woman with life-threatening injuries.

According to the Durham Regional Police Service, officers from West Division responded to the scene at Kingston Road West and Chapman Drive on Sunday, June 22, at about 5:45 pm.

Police say a 60-year old woman from Pickering was driving a blue Toyota Corolla through the intersection when it collided with a black Honda Accord. The driver of the Toyota sustained minor injuries, while her passenger—a 61-year old Pickering woman—was transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre in life-threatening condition.

The 18-year old Pickering male driving the Honda was not injured. His passengers, an 18-year old woman and a 19-year old woman, were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

The DRPS Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene and is continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
