79-year old man dies in single-vehicle Clarington crash

A 79-year-old man has died following a single-vehicle collision in Bowmanville in the Municipality of Clarington, according to the Durham Regional Police Service.

On Sunday, July 6, at about 3:50 pm, officers from East Division responded to the crash on Bennett Road, north of Port Darlington Road. Police say the vehicle was travelling westbound on Kissingbridge Lane when it left the roadway, crossed a field, and struck an embankment near Bennett Road.

The driver was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

Members of the Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene and closed Bennett Road for several hours while collecting evidence. The investigation remains ongoing.
