Pickering murder suspect named, Canada-wide warrant issued

A Canada-wide warrant has been issued for a 34-year-old male in connection with a homicide investigation led by the Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS).

According to police, emergency crews responded to a house fire near Primrose Court and Fairport Road in Pickering on June 11, around 2:20 pm. Inside the residence, firefighters discovered the body of a 69-year-old woman, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Following a post-mortem examination, the DRPS Homicide Unit assumed control of the investigation. Police have since classified the incident as a homicide, marking Durham Region’s third of the year.

The suspect is currently wanted under a Canada-wide warrant, and investigators continue to search for his whereabouts.

Investigators believe this to be an isolated incident and there is no threat to public safety.
