36-year-old held in online child exploitation case

A 36-year-old man has been arrested following an investigation by Durham Regional Police Service’s Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit into alleged online child luring.

According to police, the investigation began after an adult male engaged in online communication with someone he believed to be a 14-year-old girl. Officers say the man sent sexually explicit messages and offered to pick up the individual in order to engage in sexual activity.

On Thursday, July 3, police executed a search warrant at a residence in Scugog and arrested the man without incident.
