A wanted individual has been arrested and a firearm seized following a Durham Regional Police investigation in Ajax.
According to police, on Wednesday, July 2, members of the Central East Criminal Investigation Branch concluded Project Ruins, an investigation targeting a violent offender wanted for failing to comply with his release conditions. With assistance from the Tactical Support Unit, officers executed a Criminal Code search warrant at a residence near Rossland Road West and Marsh Lane.
The suspect was arrested without incident. During the search of the residence, police say they seized a firearm and an overcapacity magazine.
The man, a 29-year-old from Ajax, was already wanted on multiple warrants at the time of the arrest. He has been charged with several firearms-related offences and was held for a bail hearing. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.
