Medical issue likely led to death of motorcyclist in ditch

Durham police say a 47-year-old man has died following a single-vehicle motorcycle collision in Clarington on Tuesday.

Officers were called to the area of Concession Road 6 and Vickers Road around 1:20 pm on July 1, where they found the male rider unresponsive at the side of the roadway. Investigators believe he had been travelling eastbound on Concession Road 6 when the motorcycle gradually veered across the westbound lanes and into a ditch. The rider was ejected from the bike.

According to Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS), the man had been reported missing by his family earlier that day.

Police say a medical episode is believed to have contributed to the crash.

Members of the DRPS Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene. Anyone with information is asked to contact D/C Hoevenaars of the Traffic Services Branch at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 5227.
