The Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) has arrested a 46-year-old Oshawa woman and is searching for a male suspect following a human trafficking investigation involving the exploitation of a young woman.
According to police, the investigation began on May 1, after allegations surfaced that a female victim had been coerced into the sex trade. Investigators determined that the victim initially met the suspects in Oshawa in February. Over the following weeks, the victim was exploited and pressured to perform sexual acts with men in exchange for money.
On July 3, officers responded to a disturbance near Bond Street East and Ritson Road North in Oshawa.
The 46-year-old woman from Oshawa was arrested and held for a bail hearing. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.
The male suspect connected to this case remains outstanding. Police are asking for the public’s help in locating him. His photo is available at drps.ca.
