Man seriously hurt in shooting; police searching for 3 suspects

The Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) is investigating a shooting in Ajax that left one man with serious injuries and are seeking the public’s help in identifying three suspects.

On Sunday, July 6, at about 10:20 pm, officers from West Division responded to a report of an armed person in the area of Commercial Avenue and Hunt Street. When police arrived, they found a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre with serious injuries.

According to police, the shooting followed a verbal altercation between the suspects and the victim. Investigators believe the incident was isolated.

Police are now looking to identify three male suspects:

  • Suspect 1 is described as about six feet tall, wearing a black baseball cap, facemask, hoodie, jeans, and black shoes.
  • Suspect 2 is described as having a heavy build and was wearing a face mask and all black clothing.
  • Suspect 3 was wearing a face covering, hoodie, black pants, and light-coloured shoes.

The suspects fled the scene in a grey four-door vehicle, though the make and model remain unknown.
