Durham police say a 35-year-old man is facing multiple charges following a human trafficking investigation involving a young woman who was coerced into the sex trade.
According to police, the Human Trafficking Unit (HTU) began investigating in early June after learning a man was believed to be trafficking a female victim. Investigators allege the accused transported the victim to multiple countries for the purpose of exploitation.
On Tuesday, August 19, members of the HTU executed a Criminal Code search warrant at a residence in Oshawa. The suspect was arrested without incident. Police say several items were seized during the search, including cellphones, travel documents, banking information, drugs, and drug paraphernalia.
A 35-year-old male, of Oshawa was charged and held for a bail hearing. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.
