The Town of Ajax is considering changes to allow retail use in the Prestige Employment area at 1120–1200 Salem Road North and reduce parking requirements for a new seven-building development.
The town received Official Plan Amendment Application (OPA24-A14) and Zoning By-law Amendment Application (Z18/24), submitted by GWD Planners on behalf of 2353662 Ontario Limited. These amendments seek to permit retail uses within the Prestige Employment land use designation and zone and reduce parking requirements for the non-residential development of the subject lands, located at 1120, 1130, 1140, 1150, 1160, 1190 and 1200 Salem Road North.
The purpose of OPA24-A14 and the proposed by-law is to establish an Area-Specific Policy for the subject lands to permit retail uses. The purpose of Z18/24 and the proposed by-law is to establish a site-specific Exception (Exception 225) for the Prestige Employment (PE) Zone to permit retail uses and set development standards for the proposed project.
In accordance with Site Plan Application SP2/18, the proposed development includes seven non-residential buildings and surface parking.
A public meeting will be held on February 18, at 1 pm at Ajax Town Hall. Residents can attend in person, watch online, or submit comments by February 14.
