The Town of Ajax is considering the possibility of turning lands on the north side of Taunton Road West into an outdoor event facility.
The town recently inaugurated Ajax Fairgrounds at 1955 Audley Road North in northern Ajax, directly next to Audley Recreation Centre (see below). The 7-acre outdoor event facility can host up to 25,000 people.
The new proposed facility is on lands are located on the north side of Taunton Road West, west of Church Street North, at the western limits of the town’s boundaries, and are municipally known as 688 Taunton Road West.
The outdoor event facility shall be limited to temporary structures for events/gatherings, ancillary buildings or structures, outdoor amenity space, and parking areas.
An amendment is being brought forward to establish an Area Specific Policy that will allow for the construction and use of an outdoor event facility.
The purpose of Zoning By-law Amendment is to rezone the subject lands from the Country Residential (CR) Zone to the Permanent Countryside (PC) Zone and establish a new site-specific Zoning Exception (Exception 220) to permit an outdoor event facility as an additional use and set development standards to implement such use.
Ajax Council have sent out a notice which will allow you, the residents to voice your opinion on the planned facility.
